HOW TO ADD COMMENT NARRATIVE TO YOUR PHOTO IMAGES USING COMMENT IT!
FROM LAUNCHING COMMENT IT!
1. Select a photo image by scrolling through your photos and touching the photo image thumbnail to highlight it with a blue border.
2. Touch the Edit Pencil icon.
3. Touch in the "Write a comment…" area to add your comment narrative.
4. Enter your comment narrative via the keyboard or speech-to-text.
5. When the comment narrative is as you like it, touch the round blue plus icon to add your comment narrative to the image's comment list.
6. Touch the check mark at the top of the screen to save the comment list into the image file.
7. For regular photos, touch the "Modify" option on the ensuing dialogue window. For Live Photos, the operating system will not allow changes directly to the original Live Photo, so Comment It! copies the Live Photo - maintaining the still and video images - and adds the comment narrative to the copy. Then Comment It! gives you option to retain or remove the original, non-commented Live Photo. If you select to delete the original Live Photo, the operating system will ask you for permission to delete it via a dialogue window with a thumbnail of the picture. The commented copy is saved automatically by Comment It! during this process with all of the Live Photo properties retained.
8. Touch the back arrow to return to the photo image listing.
FROM THE CAMERA
1. Take a photo with the camera, select to view the photo by touching the thumbnail of the image that was just captured.
2. When viewing the photo, touch the icon to enhance the photo.
3. On the next screen, touch the ... (More) icon.
4. On the ensuing app list select … (More) and add Comment It!. Comment It! will automatically appear on successive uses, so it can be selected directly. Note for Live Photos: at this point in the process, when accessing Comment It! from the camera app, the operating system will prompt you to convert a Live Photo into a still image.
5. Touch the "Write a Comment…" area to add your comment narrative.
6. Enter your comment narrative via the keyboard or speech-to-text.
7. When the comment narrative is as you like it, touch the round blue plus icon to add your comment narrative to the image's comment list.
8. Touch Done to save and return to the camera app.
SETTING AN ENCRYPTION KEY
1. Access the menu by touching on the three lines at the top right corner of Comment It!
2. Touch the Settings menu option.
3. Touch the arrow on the Encryption Key setting.
4. Enter a 4 digit PIN to be used as your encryption key; please don't use 1111, 1234, or 9999 - those are too easy to hack. Remember your Comment It! PIN in case you need to reinstall Comment It! so you can read your encrypted comments.
5. Once you have entered a 4 digit PIN, then touch the green arrow at the top of the screen to save it into the Comment It! app.
6. On the ensuing screen, access the menu by touching on the three lines at the top of the screen.
7. Touch on the Home menu option to return to the Comment It! Home screen.
ENCRYPT A COMMENT
1. Select a photo to add a comment to (blue highlight around photo), then touch the pencil icon.
2. Touch the purple key icon OR the button beside it to turn encryption on for private comments.
3. Touch in the 'Write a comment...' area to enable the keyboard.
4. Enter your comment narrative via the keyboard or speech-to-text.
5. One you have entered the desired comment narrative, touch the blue plus icon to add the comment to the image's comment list.
6. To view an encrypted comment, simply touch the 'Encrypted Comment' text in the comment list.
7. If the Encrypted Comment was encrypted with your PIN, then the decrypted comment will appear in a pop-up window. Simply tap OK when you are finished reading the comment.
8. If desired, add additional comments - encrypted or not - you can add encrypted and plain text comments to the same photo, depending on the encryption button setting (on or off) when a specific comment is added. When you are finished adding comments to the photo, touch the green arrow at the top of the screen to save the comments to the image file.
9. To return to the Comment It! Home screen, touch the back arrow at the top of the screen.
10. When a photo is selected on the Comment It! Home screen, Comment It! will show the plain-text comments and an indication of encrypted comments. On the Comment It! Home screen, you can touch the Encrypted Comment text line to view the comment if it was encrypted with your PIN as in Step 6, above.
DELETE ONE COMMENT
1. When editing a photo's comments, you can remove one comment by swiping that comment to the left, then touching the delete button that appears.
ADD A COMMENT NARRATIVE TO MULTIPLE PHOTOS
1. Perform a search on Date by Month search to find photos taken within a given month (optional)...
2. Touch the 'Select' at the top of the screen.
3. Touch the desired photos (up to 10 at one time) that are to contain the same comment.
4. Touch the pencil icon to go to the comment add screen.
5. Enter the desired comment narrative for the selected photos.
6. Touch the blue plus icon to add the entered comment to the photos.
7. Touch the green check mark icon to save the entered comment to the selected photos. At this point if one or more of the selected photos are Live Photos, Comment It! will ask if you want to retain the original, uncommented photo(s) - and if you select to not retain them, then the operating system will ask your pemission to remove the original photos.
8. Touch Modify to give permission to the operating system for changes to be made to the photos.
9. Comment It! will inform you that the comment(s) were saved to the seleted photos.
10. Touch the back arrow icon to return to the Comment It! Home screen.
SHARE A PHOTO
1. Select (highlight) the photo to be shared. From the Comment It! Home screen or the Comment Add/Edit screen.
2. Touch the orange bubble icon.
3. Select to Share Image from the subsequent menu.
4. If the photo that you have selected to share is a Live Photo, another menu will appear giving you the option to change the format of the photo for Apps like WhatsApp that do not handle Live Photos.
5. Select the App or method with which you would like to share the photo and follow that App's or method's options for completing the share. Remember that once you've selected to share a photo using Comment It!, any plain text comments for that photo were automatically copied to the clipboard, so all you have to do is paste them in the shared App's text window, if one is provided.
